Koreless - Maria

The battle for middle you....

As it’s the start of a brand new year I believe it only fair to give my readers a heads up on some of my tips for 2011. The first producer who’s caught my eye this year and is definitely one to watch is 19 year old Glasgow resident Koreless.

Although this young producer has yet to officially release any of his material he is already making waves throughout the country. With airplay from Radio 1 and Rinse FM Koreless’ reputation is steadily growing, whilst in clubland his dark hypnotic anthem Up Down Up Down is an essential for any bass orientated DJ. Although it was Up Down Up Down that first got him recognised it is the deeper side of his style that I am more interested in and I believe he feels the same way.

“I’ve always made emotive music, never bangers.”

With the astronomical rise of James Blake and the haunting yet ever present Burial legacy, it seems to me that producers are beginning to explore the more soulful and emotive side of club music and it’s this style that Koreless excels in. He blends Garage and Dubstep to create beautiful, heart breaking anthems more suitable for the post-club gathering, rather than the club itself.

His first release 4D/MTI is released via Pictures Music in March 2011.

Jamie XX and Gil Scott-Heron - I'll Take Care of You

I care because you do....

If you are a fan of Jamie XX then this little blog post might make you go a little weak at the knees. This is a big week for the man that can do no wrong, and here's why...

Over here in the UK Jamie is releasing two vinyl essentials for any forward thinking DJ on the 11th of January. First up is his unstoppable remix of Adele's new single Rolling In The Deep and also the first single to be lifted from his forthcoming remix album We're New Here (featured previously on this blog).

Not only that but Jamie XX also managed to squeeze in a little half hour mix for Radio 1 newcomer Benji B. I am not over exaggerating this mix is rather special. His mix features the likes of Zomby, Jamie Woon and Mount Kimbie. Not only that but it also includes a few of his own productions too.

Head over to http://www.pinglewood.com/pinglewood/2011/01/slow-burn/ to get your hands on a mp3 of his excellant guest mix.

Also listen below to I'll Take Care Of You the latest single to be unveiled from We're New Here which is available to download for the tidy price of 1 English pound.

Enjoy

Secret Peter - Papa's Got A Brand New Dressing Gown Mix

I lie awake I've gone to ground, I'm watching porn in my hotel dressing gown....

Happy 2011 one and all! To celebrate new beginnings here at Secret Peter we are offering up a new mixtape.

This is more of a selection than a mix but is still filled with plenty of musical goodness.

It's alot more chilled than my other mixes but equally as pleasing.

Unfortunately you can't download this one due to copyright issues but if you want to download the past 3 mixes I've done head over to my Soundcloud page.

If you do want to get your hands on a mp3 of this mixtape get in contact and I'll sort you out.

This mix was recorded because I have recently had my eyes opened to the joys of wearing a dressing gown.

They cannot be beaten!

Enjoy
