MyOwn - Crazy In Love

I look and stare so deep in your eyes, I touch on you more and more everytime...

Recently there has been an influx of producers remixing and editing R&B tracks, some better than others. Jacques Greene mastered the art on Another Girl and Kelly Rowland's Motivation and techno head Blawan got the Resident Advisor track of 2011 with his take on Brandy's Wanna Be Down. Now it looks like there is a new producer who is biting at the heels of these dance music heavyweights going by the name of MyOwn.

I stumbled across this edit courtesy of Throwing Snow after he posted it via his Fuckbook page and I am eternally grateful to him for doing so. There isn't much information out there about MyOwn except that he/she is Russian and enjoys a nice smoke now and again...

"Hi here in russia we are poor like africa but its cold so if do a small 10$ donation i could buy some POT and make a personal free download track with my blessing for a brother or sister who helped and inspired me."

Probably whilst high MyOwn created an absolutely sublime edit of Beyonce's Crazy In Love which I have been listening to at least twice a day for the past few weeks. With a simply crafted beat and mournful chords layered underneath Beyonce & Jigga's vocals the original is completly flipped on it's head. This is addictive listening, now if only I could get a download I would be a happy man...

Lapalux - Gutter Glitter

Halfway between the gutter and the stars...

It’s been a while since I put the modern equivalent of pen to paper and actually written about some music, so to start off 2012 I bring you the delectable sounds of Lapalux.

Stuart Howard aka Lapalux has been on my radar for a while now after hearing his Many Faces Out Of Focus EP released via our good friends at Pictures Music. Many Faces Out Of Focus showcases Lapalux’s expertise in creating moody, complex electronic music awash with layers of noise and hints of R’n’B. Following this astonishing debut he has also fired out some incredible edits of Gwen Stefani & AlunaGeorge which have been on constant rotation on my headphones recently.

It seems that Lapalux’s sonic rhythm + blues has made enough noise to get noticed across the pond by none other than the mighty Brainfeeder camp with Lapalux releasing his latest EP When You’re Gone via the prolific label on February 7. With the Brainfeeder family behind him it looks like this latest release is going to open up a lot of doors for Mr Howard and introduce a whole new legion of fans to one of the UK’s finest and most innovative producers.

Listen to Gutter Glitter below or you can cop it via Pitchfork for absolutely nothing. For a cheeky taster of his forthcoming release you can take a listen to a sampler of When You're Gone here.
